Diesterweg (1790-1866) is a German educator, representative figure of Germany bourgeois democracy pedagogy in the middle of the nineteenth century.Starting from the interests of the bourgeoisie, he strongly criticized the feudal and religious education in Germany, pushed for universal national education. This idea reflects the requirements of the development of19th century German capitalism, is a big step forward in the history of education. Diesterweg is known as the "The teachers of the German teachers ".Wegweiser zur Bildung fur deutsche Lehrer(means German Teacher Training Guide) is his masterpiece in education. His teacher education theories not only had made outstanding contributions to teacher education development in Germany, at the same time to teacher education in the world as well as China’s teacher education reform and development for reference and inspiration. This thesis is on the basis of other scholars’ research achievements on Diesterweg’s education ideas and books, and made a in-depth research in his teacher education theories.In introduction, given the reason of selection of the subject, define the core definition of the concept, and describes the research results and the status quo at home and abroad of the Diesterweg’s teacher education theories and the purpose of this thesis, describes the research methods. The first part, introduced formation of Diesterweg’s teacher education theories. His background and his experience of studying and teaching practice have a certain influence on the formation of teacher education theories, especially the publishing of Wegweiser zur Bildung fur deutsche Lehrer(means German Teacher Training Guide) and the Rhine Education magazine, finally form a set of his own theory system.The second part, discusses main theory of Diesterweg’s teacher education theories. Including view on education, teaching concepts.The third section, which is the main part of this thesis, focuses on content of Diesterweg’s teacher education theories. That part mainly includes two points:first, introduced teacher mission and, high demands of teachers and so on; second, he was opposed to the narrow nationalist tendencies in the German educational purposes and strong religious overtones, proposed the ideal of "holistic education".The last part discusses the impact and significance of Diesterweg’s teacher education theories and gives an objective evaluation of Diesterweg’s teacher education theories. At last, the enlightenment of teachers in China education reform and development from his teacher education theories are analyzed.
