There are a few studies on the early childhood reading styles, though it’s important to early childhood reading instruction. The present research is a quantitve and qualitve study, using picture book Gorilla as reading material, Observer10.0as the observing tool, adopted measurement tools of reading effects developed by the author to check1203-6years old children. The measurement tools have four aspects, including recalling, reasoning, imagining and understanding of emotion. Results showed that:(1) Compared with younger children,5-6year old children are at higher level of reading, and perform better in reading habit(2)4-5year old children are the critical period for finding the reasons of the hero’s emotion.(3)Shared picture-book reading could help children do better in recalling, reasoning and turning the pages in right order.(4) Reading by oneself could help children work harder in reasoning, imagining and constructing their own story. According to the result, there are some proposals:Firstly, Choose proper reading styles for children, including (1) Give5-6years old children more time to read by themselves.(2) Pay attention to the shared reading of3-4years old children.(3) It is an important period of early childhood reading for4-5years old children. Secondly, Focus on the emotion and metal state of children, including (1) Help children understand the emotion and feelings of the hero in picture-books.(2) Focus on metal state of children. The third, Choose the proper books for children.(1) Choose books full of funny.(2) Choose books suitable for the age.(3) Use books properly.
