The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) was established onDecember11,1946. It was originally intended to meet the emergencyneeds of children in Europe after World War II. Since1950, its mandateexpanded to take care of the long-term needs of women and childrenin developing countries in the world. In1953, it became a permanentorganization of the United Nations system, under the United Nationssystem, commissioned by the UN General Assembly committed thecountries around the world children survival, development, protectionand participation rights. In1961, UNCF expanded its impact into thewhole needs of the whole children, and keeps an eye on education,which has always been a major topic to the organization.UNICEF is an important part of modern world’s history of educationaids to education of the children in the world, it adheres to its imagineand original purpose, a lot of fruitful work, educational activitiesinvolving basic education, girls education, education ofdisadvantaged children field. It has made an outstanding contributionto promote the educational development of children in the world. Tothis organization of huge influence, it is necessary to study its historicaldevelopment, major educational assistance activities, and its historicalposition to make a proper evaluation.This thesis reviews the history of UNICEF and analyzes the process ofeducational aids and its impact on world’s education with two basicmethods, includes literature review and historical research. The thesiscontains four elements. The first part is an introduction of the reason ofchooses the theme, the purpose and meaning, literature summary andresearch methods. In the second part, this thesis reviews the history andgeneral situation of UNICEF, focus on the background, responsibilitiesand main functions. The third part analyzes the development of educational aids of UNICEF. The fourth part is conclusion. Based on thepreceding chapters, this part induces and analyzes the nature andimpact of the organization, and expounds the history of UNICEF’seducational aids to China and its influence on Chinese education.
