In the new wave of curriculum reform, ability evaluation has become the core content in the examination to university. Function is one of the basic concepts in mathematics, and it is also important in math teaching in Middle School. Only if we understand the concept and connotation of function and guide the students to solve problems in the terms of function and equation, can we largely promote our ability to solve problems. Under the background, we study the idea of function and equation in senior high school mathematics.In this article, we apply documentation method, Delphi technique, behavior analysis method etc. and build on educational psychology and modern teaching theory to analysis the idea of function and equation in senior high school, illustrate it with examples, which is mainly used to improve the mathematics teaching skills in senior high school. After the research of concept, teaching methods and application of function and equation, we conclude a teaching suggestion on math in senior high school: during the mathematics teaching, we should explore the subjective capability of students focus on students’ understanding with the concept of math knowledge, pay attention to extract and apply the idea of function(?) and equation(?), emphasize on cultivating students’ integrated qualities.
