Persons consider mathematics as thought--building. Yet it is the best time to foster students' capacity for thought, and character of thought at a phase of junior middle school. This thesis is based on thought and mathematical thought in theory, combining character of development of thought among junior middle school students, and is established function teaching as a background which includes difficult point and focal point teaching during the stage of junior middle school Furthermore, it concretely study between capacity for thought in function teaching and fostering character of thought. In mathematics, capacity for mathematics consists of abstract generalization selection capacity and judgement capacity , mathematics exploration capacity, as well as logic thought capacity. Mathematics thought comprises width ,depth, flexibility and creation in thought. During concretely study, I have three aspect of think about function : function teaching and setting up thinking in mathematics : in the beginning and ending of the course of function mathematics ; using of dialectical idea in function. According to analyzing on the students character of thought , combining the knowledge of function mathematics, in order to improve students' capacity for thought and character of thought . otherwise, it really reflect that mathematics is a vivid thought activity, meanwhile, it can promote teaching in the part of function ,and supply a valuable reference on teaching reform to other teachers.
