In the recent years, even though non-publicly funded colleges have witnessed a booming development, it is obvious that their ideological and political education has lagged far behind. As the number of their students constitutes a considerable segment of the whole body of students, it is essential for non-publicly funded colleges to reinforce the ideological and political education. Currently, despite the joint efforts to promote the ideological and political education on the part of teachers and colleges, the results are far from satisfactory. Hence, it is urgent to investigate the problems and plights with the ideological and political education in non-publicly funded colleges and put forward effective measures to improve it, with a view to fostering the sustainable development of non-publicly funded education in China.Based on the theoretic and empirical research, this thesis has applied multiple methods to the study of the ideological and political education in non-publicly funded colleges. Firstly, it has laid bare the empirical and theoretic reasons why the ideological and political education in non-publicly funded colleges must be strengthened. Secondly, it has examined the problems with the ideological and political education in non-publicly funded colleges. Finally, it has advanced pertinent countermeasures to improve the ideological and political education in non-publicly funded colleges.It is argued in the thesis that at present, such problems and difficulties are observed in the ideological and political education in non-publicly funded colleges:inadequate stress on the ideological and political education, insufficient financial investment, monotonous educational approaches, derailment in the educational aims, poorly targeted work plan, ineligible teaching and management staff, unfavorable campus atmosphere, etc. To improve the ideological and political education in non-publicly funded colleges, we need to attach great importance to students’ideological and political education, add financial investment, multiply educational models, stick to the educational aims, change the conception, maneuver the work plan, emphasize the development of teaching staff and enhance the campus atmosphere.The thesis is original in the following aspects:it has set non-publicly funded colleges as the research object, examined the present difficulties and dilemmas with their ideological and political education; it has attached great importance to reinforce students’ideological and political education, add financial investment, multiply educational models, stick to the talent-oriented educational goals, change the conception, maneuver the work plan, emphasize the development of teaching staff and enhance the campus atmosphere, with a view to improving the ideological and political education in non-publicly funded colleges in China.
