The fairness of the autonomous enrollment system reform, as an important complement to the reform of college entrance examination system in China, is of concern. Former studies focus on the literature and case analysis, which lack a useful theory framework. In this paper, under existing theoretical and empirical research, I use the theory framework of perceived fairness, and design questionnaires and interviews to college students in Shanghai area to get first-hand data. On the basis of the empirical analysis of students’perceived fairness of the autonomous enrollment in four dimensions and consequence variables on the performance and the difference and interaction between them, and to explore the reasonableness of the four dimensions and the design of the scale and analysis the influencing factors, which conduct a preliminary exploration in research methods. The research is implemented by four steps:Stage1:by sorting out the literature review in education fairness and perceived fairness and autonomous enrollment system reform, I summarized the dimensions and hypothesis of perceived fairness and its significance to autonomous enrolment system reform.Stage2:I design the evaluation index and form the prediction questionnaire of perceived fairness, according to the concept model and existing research results of perceived fairness and the characteristics of the autonomous enrollment system.Stage3:I use the item evaluation and exploratory factor analyses to screen and cut items, and finally form the formal questionnaire of perceived fairness in autonomous enrollment.Stage4:the questionnaire was formally issued. On the base of testing item correlations and the validity of the questionnaire, I describe the demographic characteristics and perceived fairness of the test group and discuss the effectiveness which demographic characteristics made to perceived fairness and what changes the autonomous enrollment system reform had bring to perceived fairness and try to analyze the possible causes. A total of335questionnaires were released, and recycled289valid questionnaires. The main conclusions are as follows:1, the perceived fairness of autonomous enrollment system in Shanghai can be evaluated from four dimensions which are outcome fairness, procedural fairness, interpersonal fairness and informational fairness.2, generally speaking, university students in Shanghai have higher sense of fairness in autonomous enrollment system. The score of dimensions of perceived fairness from high to low in turn is interpersonal fairness, informational fairness, procedural fairness and outcome fairness, but the difference between them is not significant.3, the difference of perceived fairness in autonomous enrolment between genders and grades are also not significant, so is the organizational variables effect between genders. Informational fairness between university types appears remarkable difference, which means the ordinary university students feel more fairness on the information acquisition than those in higher vocational colleges; Interpersonal fairness and informational fairness dereferences between those who take the recruitment test of autonomous enrolment or not are significant, which means those who take the test or other words who participate in autonomous enrolment experience more fairness; score of female students at interpersonal fairness is significantly higher than male students; of the different grades participated in the autonomous recruitment exams in the dimension of interpersonal fairness, the freshman and junior students showed significant differences to the senior students rather than in the other three dimensions; students in rural areas showed more sense of unfairness than urban students.
