Not only does the country and the society provide a stage for schools, but also try their best to control the schools’function. So we can say the schools are directly influenced by the structure of the country and a society. At first, the foundation of the schools due to the need of passing on culture. At the same time, it is also related to the politics. The double effects of the education determined and affected the teacher’s role as a intellectual vice verse.The basic function of teacher is teaching knowledge. In ancient China, the close relationship between teachers and a country mainly lies to the role of a literati and officialdom. The special political identity can bring them the opportunity to ascend to the higher social level, and can help them realize their individual political ideal, and can make them enjoy the priority of expressing their views.In the modern society, the regime of a country is established on the basic of the political culture which means that people enjoy the sovereignty. It also means that the being of a country not belongs to one family or one surname, but owned by all the people of the country. Therefore, one country must be responsible for their people and their interests, as provide education to their people. At the mean time, the duty and significance of the education of a country has been acknowledged by the whole world. At present, our country is committing herself to the realization of democracy, homony, justice and fair. And more creative and initiative individual has been making more contribution to the development of modernization.As a teacher, their mission is not only transmitting excellent culture of human society, but also deliver the value of the culture. Following the development of modern technology and science, people can get information more easily and quickly. Should the teacher exist in the new era as in the old time become a question which wad raised by Ivanllich at first in his famous book Non-School Society. In his opinion, it is time for us to get rid of schools and teachers in the modern world. Whether should the teachers exit as the spokesman of the authority or not form a hot talk. For this reason, this paper try to make a thorough inquiry and analysis on the role of teachers., try to find whether teacher can be an intellectual in in China or not. This essay use critical theory as analysis basis, draw support from the view point of Giroux, the teacher as transform-al intellectual, as the analysis clue, place the whole analysis on the background the modern China. Through this thesis, the author expect to do something for the process of the democracy of China.
