Education should be based on people. This paper goes from theories of management and career education, breaks the limits of traditional educational theories and introduces the experiences gained in the field of career education home and abroad. The high school where the author of this paper serves has made some new attempts in this field and conducted systematic introductory education to common high school students (not technical schools). During the process, students are inspired to think over their own career path, to make long-term career plan as well as short-term major-choosing schemes in College Entrance Exam through systematic and specific courses (not short-term workshops). All these attempts contribute to the exploration and innovation of the study.The paper mainly focuses on the problems, present condition and development tendency of the career planning education using the method of synthesis on the basis of document. It also researches on how the social system supports the career planning education. Some statistic in the paper is got from the communication with students, parents and experts of career planning. The information about the career planning of middle school students in some examples is got from the investigation.This paper can be divided into five sectionsThe first chapter is introduction, mainly stating the beginning and background of career education in high school. Current situation and contents about high school career education in the USA, Britain, Germany, Japan, Taiwan (China) and Hong Kong (China) are introduced and the target and contents of the study in China has been outlined together with the research method and its significance.The second chapter is the theories in this field, which are also the theories that the author of this paper adopts for the writing of textbooks on high school career education. This chapter puts emphasis on Trait-Factor Theory of Frank Parsons, Personality Typology Theory of J.L.Holland, Career Developing Theory of Donald E. Super, Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Career anchors of Edgar. H. Schein and relative studies of talent and success. It introduces why career planning is needed and what is the basis of career planning with the standing points from theories to assessments.The third chapter discusses the various steps during the implication of career education in high school, including the setting of courses, the short-term goals, the in-school supporting system during the process of course setting, the steps of course setting and implementation and the detailed approaches of the implementation. It also analyses the specific steps of career planning for high school students with SWOT, provides SWOT cases and makes conclusions for the whole course system.The forth chapter is about the middle-term plan-major-choosing in College Entrance Exam. Choosing majors is a critical step in a high school student’s further career development. This chapter first offers overall guidance to students and analyses the characteristics of the major settings of colleges and universities in our country. Then, it points out the awareness of career planning is needed in choosing schools and majors in order to step out of the confusion. It finally analyses the model of career planning and demonstrates the overall process of high school career planning system from students themselves, parents and social supporting system.The fifth chapter is the discussion of social supporting system in high school career planning. High school career planning is a synthesis of family, school and society and needs common effort from all sorts of resources.This study can promote the practise of "Career Planning Course for High School Students" in common high school, improve the ability of high school students to plan their own future, help them to set career goal, inspire their enthusiasm to study and set solid foundations for their future career. Meanwhile, it also makes positive exploration for the general implementation of high school career education in our country.
