| It was a significant stage for Christian Universities in China effectively combined aswell as academically secularized and localized from the very late nineteenth to earlytwentieth century. A gust of university-merged whirlwind spread the mainland basicallyforming the pattern of Christian university in china with over ten merged-schoolseventually founded covering the mainly area such as East, North, South and Southwest inChina.The university-combined movement in Christian University in China, was that theChristian Missionary Society make the association and integration between the ChristianMissionary Society and the Christian Missionary schools in order to adapt to socialenvironment changes in China. The university-combined movement was an importantattempt on the educational cause. The university-combined movement, which subjectivelyspeaking, promote the development of Higher Education. This article bases on Qi LuUniversity combined with other Christian universities researching on the origin, generalsituation and influence of Christian universities in China shows the relationships betweenChinese social environment and Christian universities as well as the Foreign ChristianAssociations together with missionaries and Christian universities from the very latenineteenth to early twentieth century, which further confirming the status of thisuniversity-combination in the history of higher education by accurate data analysis. |
