| The beginning teacher is also known as the teacher at initial stage, new teachers, green hand teachers, who work as a formal teacher for only1-3years. The initial stage is the first stage of teacher’s career development process. Educators usually call this early stage of teacher’s development as the "survival stage". It is the beginning time for teacher’s career when socialization has been completed in a new teacher at school, and its importance can be self-evident.At present, after the party’s appeal, more and more young people are becoming glorious teachers. For lack of teaching experience, coupled with a significant shift in social roles, beginning teachers are facing more and more difficulties in the process of adapting to the work of teachers. In addition to the problem of diversified educational background of beginning teachers, their majors could be the traditional teacher-class, but economic, engineering, legal and other majors. This situation is much more common in primary schools. In this context, it is insufficient of the traditional social support for beginning teachers’ career adjustment.In this study, social support is defined as the support from families, colleagues, and friends to give individuals mental or physical help. Families, friends, and leaders as significant others, have particularly significant meanings for individuals in social support. A large number of studies have showed that social support has a positive meaning for man’s adaptation. Therefore, we have the necessary to establish new social support system for beginning teachers according to their adaptation difficulties, to help them adapt the work and complete the transformation of social roles.I used the methods of literature analysis, interviews and questionnaire survey, analyzed the adaptation and social support of beginning teachers in current primary schools. With the method of multiple regression analysis, I analyzed the factors that influence the adaptation of new teachers in primary school. On this basis, I made some targeted recommendations to the poor condition of school’s support. My recommendations include the following three aspects:first, to make a relaxing environment for the growth of beginning teachers; second, to create a supportive school culture; third, to perfect the counseling and training system for beginning teachers. |
