| Vocabulary, the smallest sign of language, is one of the three points among language. Just like bricks with building, it is essential in process of people’s thinking and activities.For a long time, more and more linguists are always eager to find a suitable way for vocabulary teaching. As a result of it, grammar-translating method, the audio-lingual method, the scene teaching method, the human relations teaching method and so on arise at the historic moment. However, the situation of English vocabulary teaching in high schools is not optimistic. The vocabulary lessons are usually quite boring and the enthusiasm of students is greatly reduced. Inquires into the tracing we find some reasons, for example, some teachers’unsuitable teaching ways affect the students’attitude of the vocabulary, and couldn’t mobilize students’ enthusiasm; in addition, the independent learning ability of students in vocabulary learning is not strong, which make the English study progress has been slow. As for these problems above, I tried to find a useful way to solve the difficulties in English learning.After researching the study of English lexicology, psychology, pedagogy, linguistics and related theory, in this paper, I linked the English teaching theory to practical together, and used the literature research, questionnaire investigation, interview, classroom observation as the research method to elaborate the research background, research significance and research train of thought and method of vocabulary teaching. Meanwhile, I summed up the main problems of the high school English vocabulary teaching, and put forward some corresponding improvement strategies.The paper involves the introduction, conclusion and the body. Chapter one mainly elaborated this topic research background, the research goal, the significance, a variety of high school English vocabulary teaching of theoretical knowledge, as well as the research contents and methods. There are three sections in body part. In section one, I plan to make a summary about English learning at present day and introduce some basical theories; in the second section of the chapter I will introduce a lot of work about the subject; In the third section, the most important part of the paper, I will try to find some improvement strategies. At the end of the paper, I will summarize my work and show some benefits and limitations of the research. |
