The thesis, taking the rural students who have accessing to higher education from1999to2011as theobject of the research,basing on the theory of personal costs and benefits、internal rate of return andpayback period as theoretical basis, employing literature resources and fieldwork method as researchmethods, analyzing the personal costs and benefits、internal rate of return and payback period of ruralstudents accessing to higher education in popularization of higher education, analyzing expandly thepersonal costs and benefits of rural students accessing to higher education, throwing out some suggestionbased on personal costs and benefits of rural students accessing to higher education.This thesis consists of five parts:The first part is an introduction, mainly introduces the background of topic selection, the significanceof the research, the methods of the research, relevant overviews, the core concepts an, the thesis’s systemframeworks and innovation.The second part exploits the theoretical evidences about the theory of personal costs and benefits、internal rate of return and payback period as theoretical basis.The third part sorts and analyses the personal costs and benefits of rural students accessing to highereducation, statistics the data of the personal costs and benefits of rural students accessing to highereducation, measures the the personal costs、the benefits、the internal rate of return and payback periodthe ofrural students accessing to higher education.The forth part analyses expandly the personal costs and benefits of rural students accessing to highereducation, analyses expandly the "Education is useless"、"Disadvantaged position for rural studentsaccessing to higher education " and "Irrational consumption for education".The third part throws out some suggestions based on personal costs and benefits of rural studentsaccessing to higher education. The recommendations include correctly understanding and guarding againstthe risk of education investment, effectively improveing the decision-making ability of educationinvestment, properly using of financial investment instruments, government need increase investment forhigher education, need optimize the internal structure of the higher eduction investment, need guide thepublic to establish a rational consumption concept of higher education, need perfect information platform for education investment decision-making, need strengthen the eduction supervision and improve educationinvestment income.
