Analysis On Social Stratification In Rural Area In Guilin

As the developing of urbanization and modernization, the social mobility in china becomes more and more active with a new tendency that lots of county laborers moved into cities and it brings a new change into social structure, as well as some new problems, like the over expansion of city population, aging and lowering age of county population, migrant workers’rights can’t be protected and so on. How to resolve these problems is the core work to our government. Lots of sociologists also have noticed that. In their opinion, unreasonable mobility is the root of these problems. And it is important for making the mobility reasonable that focusing on social stratification. Although so many scholars have made so many analyses on Chinese social stratification, most of them focused on the whole china and the whole city social. Also some scholars have made research on the county, but these researches aren’t in detail. So it is necessary to make a research on county in Guilin. And this research will based on answering two questions:What are the characteristics of social stratification in Guilin counties, and is there any difference between it and the whole Chinese county?Firstly, it introduces the origin and meaning of this research, as well as makes a summary of related theory and other materials.Then, it introduces the thread of this research and gives the definition to concepts.It also introduces the method and sample.The next part is analysis about Guilin counties. It focuses on objective area and subjective area. At first, describes the frequency distribution of the per capita income of a rural family, its daily consumption and its members’educational degree, job. Secondly, analysis the reasons and its relations through analysis of variance contingency table, Kruskal-Wallis Test and other methods. Thirdly, compare the family economical status in member’s eyes and the real status in purpose of finding out whether the conflict, which is among people in each level, is heavy or not. Finally, stratify the county into5levels:self-employed people’s family, civil servant’s and other workers’family, migrant worker’s family, farmer’s family and old people’s family. Meanwhile summarize four characteristics:lower variance of stratification, most families’income is in lower level, but the gap between rich and poor is small and unstable structure, as well as uncompleted stratification. Then point out the core work in developing Guilin counties through comparing Guilin county’s stratification and the whole Chinese county’s.At last, makes a summery of this research, concluding basic summery of stratification and its reason factors. Then, point out the creative point and shortage of this analysis.
