The Application Of Group Work In "the Project Caring For Migrant Workers’ Children"

As the rapid advance of China’s economic development and urbanization, a large number of surplus rural labors flow into the city. However, this part of the surplus rural labor to urban areas don’t still belong to the urban workers within the state system, because their household registration isn’t transferred to the city, due to the limitations of real-world conditions. This paper calls them for "migrant workers" and calls their children of6-14years old for "migrant workers’ children". Most of migrant workers’ children have their-selves issues, such as cognitive deficiency, emotional loss, self-isolation, inferiority, mental imbalance, and so on, because their parents are busy with making a living and can’t love, care for, educate them. Therefore, as a special vulnerable groups of society, the migrant workers’children don’t only need the help of material, but also need the care of spirits, more need the humanistic care of profession. However, in the past, the society usually provided only the migrant workers’ children with the help of material, lack of the care of spirits for them; the research about the migrant workers’ children is often the view "what the society should give the migrant workers’ children", ignoring the view "how the society should give the help of the migrant workers’children" or "in which method the society should give the help of the migrant workers’ children." So, it is a new topic in the field of social works that probing into the application of group work in "the project of caring for migrant workers’ children". Studying this new topic is helpful to promoting the healthy growth of the migrant workers’ children, is helpful to achieving family harmony of migrant workers, and is helpful to constructing the harmonious society of socialism.This paper includes the following six parts:The first part is the introduction. It discourses the origin of research problem, purpose of research, methods of research, significance of research, as well as review of the literature.The second part discourses the theory basis of research, including the Maslow’s hierarchy theory of needs and Schutz’s theory of interpersonal needs.The third part discourses the basic background of the case study. It discourses the introduction of "the project of S social work agencies caring for migrant workers’ children", the basic situation and spiritual needs of group members.The fourth part discourses the specific application of group work in "the project caring for migrant workers’children", including the preparatory work before the group activities, the application effect characterization of group work, as well as the assessment and analysis of the group work effectiveness. The results showed that:the application process of the group work in "the project caring for migrant workers’children" is scientific, is consistent with major standard. Its effectiveness is successful, effective and feasible, and it achieves the expected goal of the group work.The fifth part discourses the problems and suggestion of the application of group work in "the project caring for migrant workers’ children". In the application of group work in "the project caring for migrant workers’ children", there are some issues, such as the shortage of group workers’ professional skills, the shortage of group activities design, inadequate resources, lack of cooperation and communication between group workers and group workers, the shortage of service time, and so on. We can solve these problems by improving the professional skills of group workers, improving programs design of group activities, increasing continuously capital investment, strengthening cooperation and communication between social workers and social workers, appropriately extending the service time, and so on.The sixth part is the conclusion of paper. It makes a summery of this research, and highlights the effectiveness and significance of the application of group work in "the project caring for migrant workers’children"...
