At present, the senior high school students in China have always been passive and dependent on the teachers in the learning process, which is a big pedagogical problem. The Normal High School English Curriculum Standards (draft) clearly pointed out, English teachers should continue to help students develop appropriate and effective learning strategies, learning autonomy, and still monitor their own learning strategies in the teaching. Autonomous learning will become the future trend.This study aims to know the present situation of senior high school students’ autonomy in English learning after school, and provide some practical suggestions to promote Chinese learners’autonomy in English learning out of class.
