Based On The Social Media Research Public Welfare Activities

Social media, which is rely on digital technology, internet technology, mobilecommunications technology and other new technologies, aims to provide users with interactivecommunications. Twitter, based on the client relationship, is a platform for sharing, disseminatingand obtaining information. It stands between relationship-based social media and content-basedsocial media. The particularity of Twitter users’ behavior makes it a platform for the developmentof public service activities.On the basis of the “civil society” theory and the field theory, this thesis uses the qualitativeresearch and multi-site ethnographic research methods to analyze the cases of the social mediapublic service activities, and summarize the reasons for their success, which provide analyticmethods for the social media public service activities.The social worker’s mission is to respond to the needs of the society. In the informationsociety, social workers need to use social media to quickly deal with social problems and meet thesocial needs. Thus, how to use social media to initiate and organize public service activities is anew issue faced by social workers. In this thesis, a valid path for public service activities is foundin social media field, which provides a new method for social workers to use the new means ofsocial media to respond to the social needs and social crises. Findings in this thesis haveenlightening meaning for the improvement of the service technique and ways of social work.In this thesis, the concept of “social media field” and quaternary classification of field forconducting public service activities are proposed. The perspective of field theory has beenwidened by analyzing this theory from the point of view of the network society. Meanwhile, theanalysis of social media by applying the theory of civil society explains the causes of social mediapublic service activities, and makes a response to the theoretical needs of the construction anddevelopment of civil society in China, and to some extent supplement the theoretical study ofInternet users’ behavior. The concept of “social media field” is helpful for the future study ofsocial media public service activities.
