In current situation, mostly, public sport course doesn’t set the course ofvolleyball in Chinese regular institutions of higher learning. This situation is notoptimistic on the development of college volleyball sport. The elements thatinfluences the sport level and popularizing rate of volleyball is many-sided, such asthe highly skilled need, strict collectivity and confrontation over net as well asstudent’s physical quality and locomotivity to some extent. University physicaleducation carries on the traditional mode of explaining, demonstrating, practicing,correcting and correcting again as before. The mode avails teaching but ignorespersonal difference. Therefore students can’t find their own way to study in theteaching procedure. It is negative to keep student’s proactivity even brings depressionto class. As the improvement of higher education, we should implement physicaleducation reform in order to meet the demands of society.This thesis applies the methods of searching literature materials, doingmathematical statistics, questionnaires and teaching experiment to test the actual useof unit target teaching in volleyball teaching for public sports courses in Xin JiangNormal University. The author elaborates the feasibility of unit target teachingthrough teaching experiment and student’s learning experience. Unit target teachingwhich is students-centered guided by unit goals and teaches students how to learnaims to educate students’ cooperative competency and improve students’ physicalquality as well as volleyball skill.The following conclusions can be achieved after the experiment:(1) The basic form function of students has improved little by the exercise of“Unit Target Teaching” which demonstrated with no effect. However, its effect onimproving the capabilities of standing long jump and run-up to touch the high is betterthan Control Group Teaching, while, compared with the effect of Comparative ClassTeaching, the improvement of capability of run-up to touch the high has noadvantages.(2) The basic conditions of students have been fully used in “Unit TargetTeaching”. And there are targets of different levels. So that students have a chance tohelp each other, be unity and coordinate, find problems and solve problems in study. Itcan also cultivate students’ quality to tenaciously strive to succeed, improve theirability in social adoptions and communication, and promote their comprehensive andperfect development. (3) Thanks to “Unit Target Teaching”, students may have a new and profoundunderstanding of volleyball, and their fancy for it becomes stronger and stronger. As aresult, they may taste the true fun of volleyball and foster the habit to participate in itinitiatively.(4) Experiment shows that: students of experimental classes are superior to thoseof comparative classes in skill grasp, speculative knowledge understanding as well asthe improvement on special capability of students. Thus it can be seen that theadoption of “Unit Target Teaching” in volleyball teaching in Xinjiang NormalUniversity is feasible and effective.
