The Experimental Study Of Health Qigong On The Mental Health Of Senior High School Students

Abstract/Summary:
During the adolescence period, the psychological contradictions of students become more prominent while facing many problems such as the social competition, learning tension and so on. Especially their parents have high expectation to the students, which makes the students have great pressure and affects the students’sense of mental health. These problems should draw the particular attention of the society, family and school to the high school students’mental health.This study aims at investigating the usage of health Qigong to the mental health of high school students, and proving the benefits of health Qigong to the mental regulationof students. It will provide suitable sports content for the students who are in the special period, and provide theory and practical evidences for more scientific and health exercise.This paper uses methods of document literature, experimentation, psychological measurement, mathematical statistics and other research methods to study the influence on mental health of the high school students by practicing health Qigong with using of "MSSMHS".The research results showed that the ten dimension points and total average points of mental health have varying degrees’change after the experiment. The overall mental health of experimental class is better than that before the experiment (total average P<0.01); in the "maladjustment" dimension, comparing with before, after experiment (P<0.05),it has significant difference; the eight dimensions which are " obsession ", "hostile "," interpersonal relationship "," depression "," anxiety "," study stress ", " emotional instability "and " mental imbalance " are significantly different from the ones before the experiment before( P<0.01); in the "paranoid" dimension, the scores are decreased after the experiment, and some symptoms are improved, but the difference is not significant (P>0.05); the total average and each dimension of experimental class are better than those of the control class, the difference is significant (P <0.01).The results show that the high school students who take part in health Qigong exercise can effectively improve their psychological health, especially do well in eight dimensions which are " obsession ", "hostile "," interpersonal relationship "," depression "," anxiety "," study stress ", " emotional instability "and " mental imbalance ". Compared with the control class, the effects of health Qigong are more significantly, so to practice health Qigong is a suitable way to improve the mental health of high school students.It is suggested that relevant education departments and each sport university should strengthen to train teachers in health Qigong, and ensure the grassroots’transportation of talents. Taking health Qigong as local characteristic sports teaching project and putting it into the curriculum content could make health Qigong enter students’life and vigorously promote the popularization of health Qigong. In Qigong teaching, the physical education teachers should always pay attention to the students’ psychological change, the students’ mental health problems, and the mental regulation action of doing health Qigong, furthermore, the teachers should support help and guidance for the mental health of high school students.
