Chinese Painter Professional History And System Research

The history of professionalization of Chinese artists is a special historical and social phenomenon existed within the state system and generates different meanings according to the different historical periods. Through tracing the history of development of the artists working in the state system and out of the system,in order to think about how to be a professional artist for today’s youth including the professional education as well as the basic quality, and hope for the future social system construction and development of the artist’s professional road for reference.This paper mainly uses the historical and sociological research methods, including literature review, comparative study, in-depth interviews and field research, etc. The author has reviewed the history of professionalization of Chinese artists from the1950s to nowadays. A professional artist represents different identities and life statuses as the changes of the system. The paper aimed to explore the significance of the development of social organizations (especially NGO/NPO) to the young artists.During the study of the professionalization of Chinese artists, the author has found that both commodity economy and multiplied social organizations bring opportunities for professional development and the profession develops from opposed to compromise, the original system gradually presents the trend of non-professionalization from time to time. In the face of international art market and inclusive social ecological construction, how to construct a professional path for artists becomes a new problem to be solved, the author also puts forward some reflections and suggestions.
