As one of the oil painting artists who grow up as the same time as the development of the new China, and being the professor at the department of oil painting in the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Erchun Luo has made great contributions to the exploration of oil painting. This paper has showed the study of Mr. Luo’s work from being at the Suzhou Academy of oil painting to the present. This paper has taken cases as examples, focusing on the description, explanation for the events before and after, analyzing and summarizing Mr Luo’s works combined with the social background and his creative ideas. This paper has classified Mr. Luo’s works by time, focusing on some of the most important oil paintings, in order to highlight of his works. The purpose of this paper is to provide more information for the third studio of oil painting by studying Mr. Luo’s great works.
