"X de bu neng zai X" is very special in the verb-complement structure in modern Chinese.lt has richness and vividness linguistically, but the academia didn’t research enough. This paper is guided by Construction Grammar and uses Cognitive linguistics for reference, describes and analyses "X de bu neng zai X" comprehensively and met-iculously on the basis of previous studies. The paper mainly analyses the constructio-nal semantics, the conditions to be"X", interaction between vocabulary righteousn-ess and constructional semantics, the mechanism of form, and the relationship of related Constructions.The semantics of "bun eng zai" is negative and dissuade, while the semantics of the "X de bu neng zai X" is extreme degree.The constructional semantics of "X de bu neng zai X" is the quantity of extreme degree of expressing subjective comment. The "X" should be non quantitative adjective, verbs and nouns which can mean volume range. The volume range of verbs can be expressed by time, number of times or action range, and the nouns should contain the degree semantics.The interaction between vocabulary righteousness and constructional semantics contains three kinds. When "X" are adjective, psychological verbs and verbs that con-tain volume range, vocabulary righteousness and constructional semantics are consist-ent. When "X" are nouns, vocabulary righteousness and constructional semantics are partly consistent. When "X" are the verbs which express range through length of time and repeat times, vocabulary righteousness and constructional semantics are not cons-istent. This Construction has strong subjectivity, and with exaggerated amount. The Pragmatics mechanism of "X de bu neng zai X" formed is back for reasoning, and the cognitive mechanism is concept integration and metonymy.The relationship between "X de bu neng zai X" and "X de bu neng zai Y" belongs to example connection. The differences with "X de yao si/yao ming""X de bu de liao" are mainly on syntax and pragmatics.
