| Mahasanghavinaya is regarded as a key material for studying the middle Chinese. The paper chooses conjunction as the object of study. On the basis of the examination of the conjunctions in Mahasanghavinaya, we had an overall Synchronic description and diachronic comparison to illustrate the grammar semantic features in Mahasanghavinaya.This essay referring to the now available theory and methodology, established a standard about conjunction division. In Mahasanghavinaya, there were135conjunctions, including59middle Chinese old words,76new words and7special connections given below the translation. Firstly, the essay separated conjunctions into joint relationship and attributive-head relationship. Then ten subclasses were classified. Afterwards The objective description and analysis on the distribution and usage of the135conjunctions in Mahasanghavinaya were made, and further explanation of the regularity was given.In allusion to the using of fixed correlation expression in translation of Buddhist Original, we classified and summarized them in details. The using methods were roundly reflected in Mahasanghavinaya, and the further role and significance of fixed correlation expression were explained. Through systematic investigation and analysis, the characteristics of conjunctions in Mahasanghavinaya was summarized, including the system of conjunction system, the proportion of the using of single syllable conjunction and two-syllable conjunction, and the mechanism of medieval new connections given below.According to the survey, conjunction system in Mahasanghavinaya was more rich, stable and comprehensive than that in ancient times. The conjunction in Buddhist Original as a special material of language during a certain time presents us a new way of study conjunctions. We meticulously compared and analyzed the development and change of the conjunction in Mahasanghavinaya in order to grasping the feature and law of development of middle Chinese, tracing out the tracks of history of conjunctions in the history of Mandarin. |
