Nostalgia is a eternal motif in humanity life, people will miss the past no matter at home or abroad. However, this kind of nostalgia upsurge became very popular at the turn of the century, such as old photographs, old houses, old streets, old songs, old movies and so on, they emerged from history one by one.This paper is divided into3chapters:modernity’s consequences lead to nostalgia; the essence of nostalgia is revolting to modernity; the inevitable ending of nostalgia is incorporated by modernity.First of all,why do people have the feeling of nostalgia? Besides collective unconsciousness and some social factors, the aftermath of modern society’s rapid growth is immeasurable. Everyone in modern society located in a unrooted condition and everything in this world is changing rapidly, And human society has changed beyond recognition in the process of these changes. This paper aims to list the consequences of modernity, such as environment pollution,alienation, to analyze the reason of nostalgia.And then, this papers aims to illuminate "nostalgia" itself, as to say the definition of nostalgia, the several forms of nostalgia, and the ending of nostalgia. Nostalgia is used as a narcotic or anodyne to revolt modernity when we need it, or dump it when we do not need it. The person who has the feeling of nostalgia usually base their affection on the happy time in childhood and beautiful hometown. However, time’s one dimension lead to a unreturnable childhood, hometown is not what we imagine and the theme of nostalgia is changing by the influence of modern civilization,so, the inevitable ending of nostalgia is everchangeful modern people cannot back to everchangeful hometown.At last,this paper starts form current nostalgia phenomenon and reveals current nostalgia consuming by using cultural industry theory and consuming theory to indicate that nostalgia will incorporated by modernity.
