Homonyms refer to the words that have the same pronunciation but of completelydifferent meanings. The existence of homonyms is an inevitable feature of the evolutionof languages, which appear more or less in any language. They have a long historyespecially in Russian and Chinese. This essay aims to analyze the comparison of the useof homonyms in Russian and Chinese, in order to introduce the types、origins andfunctions based on the elaboration of the meanings and characteristics, and to explainthe role they play in language using. Finally, a conclusion is reached. Altogether threemain methods are used in the process of research, namely, to recall the present results inthis field, to explore the differences between the phenomenon of homonyms andpolysemy, and to find out the causes of the existence and specific performance fields ofboth languages. In all, homonyms is a key point in linguistics, at the same time, a maindifficulty in the teaching of Chinese for overseas. Therefore, the process of collation,induction and comparison is of both theoretical and practical value. I hope this essaycan be a great help to the learners of these two languages.
