Communicative cultural teaching is an essential part of teaching Chinese tospeakers of other languages. The so-called communicative culture refers thatmisunderstandings arise because of the lack of cultural background knowledge ofcertain word or sentence when two figures from different cultures communicate witheach other. The purpose and meaning of strengthening communicative cultural teachingare highlighted and illustrated in sphere of necessity and importance. The practice ofteaching Chinese tells us that it’s imperative and significant to strengthencommunicative cultural teaching. It can improve the communicative and cross-culturecommunicative capability of foreign students to have a big picture of communicativeculture of the Chinese nation. This part of the article goes around verbal and non-verbalcommunicative culture with Chinese characteristics followed by exploration of reasonsof formation of them. Strengthening communicative cultural teaching is so importantthat teachers should improve cultural consciousness in the process of communicationand culture teaching which can be enhanced by comparing language and culture,encouraging students to read widely, strengthening language training, the rational use offilm and video, the appropriate use of body language and extensive extracurricularactivities, and so on. In addition, teachers should ensure that contents keep pace with thedevelopment of modern society.
