For long time, language teachers all agreed that language learner should be able to produce grammatically correct language. Therefore, most language class and language text books spend a considerable amount of time on grammar explanation and grammatical accuracy practice. Most language assessments also give quite amount of weight on grammatical correctness. However, more and more people find that the traditional grammatical teaching method cannot enable a language learner to really command a language. While the learner can understand these language elements, they cannot acquire them. In the other words, they cannot put out target language correctly. Using TPRS method to teach grammar, language teachers found that it enables students to command the language in quite short time. At the same time, it helps students to accumulate large number of material for practical communication. More important, it greatly raises students’ interest to learn Chinese as a foreign lanuage.There are five parts in this paper. The first part is the introduction about the history of TPRS teaching method and its teaching mode. The second part is to introduce the development of the definition of grammar and to introduce the theory of grammar in TPRS teaching method. The third part is the analysis of the research results. The fourth part is the analysis of the class observation and the final part gives several suggestions about TPRS grammar teaching method.
