"i And Ditan" Translation And Commentary

The thesis includes two parts:the translation part and the comment part. The translation part mainly deals with the English translation of the prose The Earth Altar and I written by a famous Chinese writer Shi Tiesheng, it also includes some footnotes to the words which have cultural connotations. The comment part discusses a typical problem in the process of translation, which is the determination of subjects in the process of translation from Chinese into English The comment part begins with the differences of western and eastern cultures and thoughts and analyses the differences of subjects in both western and eastern countries, then it quotes some classical translations for references, makes an analysis of sentences concerned with the problem in the prose The Earth Altar and I and recounts how the author of the essay addresses the problem in the process of translation. At last, a conclusion is made that in the process of translation from Chinese into English, we should take English convention into consideration, combine with the article to be translated and make the most reasonable choices.
