Objective:Long snake moxibustion is an external treatment characterized by large area and lasting effect which has developed on the basis of traditional moxibustion. Electroacupuncture is the traditional acupuncture therapy combined with electrical stimulation, which is widely used in the clinical treatment of lumbar disc herniation. This study attempts to explore mechanism of long snake moxibustion and electroacupuncture, and analyze if the proposed treatment of long snake moxibustion combined with electroacupuncture has an advantage compared to pure electroacupuncture therapy, in order to provide guidance for future clinical study and practice.Method:The50cases of patients with lumbar disc herniation in accordance with the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into two groups. The treatment group and the control group were both25cases. The control group was treated with electroacupuncture which was given once a day and five times a week. Ten t.imes were taken as a period of treatment, and two periods of treatment were given continuously. The treatment group was treated with long snake moxibustion combined with electroacupuncture which was given two periods of electroacupuncture treatment continuously the same with the control group. The difference was that a long snake moxibustion treatment was given before each period of electroacupuncture treatment. Before and after therapy JOA score and VAS score were used respectively as observation index. The data was used to contrast the treatment effects of the two kinds after statistics processing.Results:1. Comparison of VAS score:before and after treatment in each group, the difference was significant (P<0.01). Comparing the decrease in VAS score after treatment of two groups, there was significant difference (P<0.05).2. Comparison of JOA score:before and after treatment in each group, the difforonce was significant (P<0.01). Comparing the increase in JOA score after treatment of two groups, there was significant difference (P<0.05).3. The total effective rate of the treatment group was96%, and the total effective rate of the control group was88%. There was a significant difference between two groups of treatment, and the treatment group was better than the control group.Conclusion:1.Long snake moxibustion combined with electroacupuncture treatment and electroacupuncture treatment can both relieve the pain of patients with lumbar disc herniation, but the effect of long snake moxibustion combined with electroacupuncture treatment is better than that of electroacupuncture treatment.2. Long snake moxibustion combined with electroacupuncture treatment and electroacupuncture treatment can both improve the lumbar function and activities of daily living of patients with lumbar disc herniation, but the effect of long snake moxibustion combined with electroacupuncture treatment is better than that of electroacupuncture treatment.3. Long snake moxibustion combined with electroacupuncture treatment is more efficient than electroacupuncture treatment in the clinical treatment of lumbar disc herniation, and has a significant effect.
