Kidney And Phlegm Method For The Treatment Of Mild-to-moderate Vascular Dementia Clinical Curative Effect Observation

Background:The incidence of Vascular dementia has risen in recent years as the aging population increases,which has pose a threat to the health status and the quality of life of the elderly, in the meantime,brings long-term suffering and burden to the patients、family and the whole society.This growing problem has caused wide public concern. Vascular dementia disease has been considered as the key subject of study and research in the21century by World Health Organization.Nowadays,the western medicine for the disease has a certain level of treatment effect, but the side-effect like drug dependence and the possibility of leading other disease has made people find new threapy in the way of Chinese medicine treatment.Based on the characteristics of the disease.which primarily is the lackness of kidney essence,also followed by the mechanism of Endogenous phlegm、blinded qingqiao caused by stroke.The traditional chinese medicine has attracted continual attention in recent years because its better treament effect and less side effect.Object:To investigate clinical effectiveness of reinforcing Kidney and activating blood circulation method and Reinforcing Kidney and Resolving Phlegm Method in treating mild-to moderate patients with vascular dementia.Method:The patients are chosen from the outpatients and hospitalized patients from The third affiliated hospital of beijing university of chinese medicine and its affiliated community hospital between the date March2011and December2012.Altogether.we chosed120mild-to-moderate patients with vascular dementia.Using single blind method to the patients with vascular dementia into experimental group and control group, the experimental group were treated with method of reinforcing Kidney Resolving Phlegm. The control group were treated with oralaniracetam. To observe the change of MMSE and ADL scale score, TCM symptom.blood lipid and inflammatory factor indicator after three months of treatment.Result:1.There was distinct difference in the indexes of the treatment of before and after (P<0.05, P<0.01), But there was no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group (P>0.05).Hach group can improve the level of VD patient’s intelligence.2.ADL scale:There was no significant difference between the experimental group and the control group (P>0.05), before and after, and there were great significant difference between the treatment of before and after for both groups(P<0.05).Both groups can improve the activities of daily living function in VD patients.3. TCM symptom:The total effective rate in the experimental group and the control group is88.33%and48.33%respectively. There was distinct difference between the experimental group and the control group (P<0.01). Both groups can improve the TCM symptom,but the experimental group is more effective.4. The blood lipid index:There was distinct difference in the indexes of TC、TG、 HDL-C before and after the treatment of the experimental group (P<0.01), But there was no significant difference in the indexes of TC、TG、HDL-C before and after the treatment of the control group.And there was no significant difference in the indexes of LDL-C for both groups before and after the treatment (P>0.05).The experimental groups can efficiently regulate the blood lipid level.5. Inflammatory factor indicator:There was distinct difference in the indexes of IL-1β、 TNF-α for the experimental group before and after the treatment (P<0.01), there was no significant difference between before and after the treatmentof control group (P>0.05) There was significant difference between experimental group and control group after the treatment.The experimental group can efficiently lower the level of inflammatory factor.Conclusion:The therapy of Reinforcing Kidney and Resolving Phlegm Method can improve the therapeutic efficacy of the mild-to-moderate VD patients, alleviate symptom of senile dementia, enhance the ability of memory, cognitive, and daily living, decreased serum TC. TG content, increased HDL-C levels.and protects neurons through lowering the level of IL-1β、TNF-α.
