With malignant tumor incidence increasing year by year, the chemotherapy has become the primary means of cancer treatment, but the adverse reactions due to chemotherapy drugs has affected the quality of life of patients and they even can not tolerate so as to give up the treatment. In recent years, chemotherapy-induced peripheral neurotoxicity has increasingly gotten the attention of experts and scholars. The peripheral neurotoxicity mainly acts as the damage to the peripheral nerves, cranial nerves and autonomic nervous system and it is a common clinical dose-limit ing adverse reactions. The medicine that causes peripheral neurotoxicity includes platinum, Changchun bases, taxane and etoposide chemotherapy drugs. Peripheral neurotoxici ty caused by these drugs of ten make patients show signs of emotional instability, panic, stress and other mental and emotional aspects of adverse effects and lead to reduced quality of life, thereby the dose has to be reduced, and even the patients have to terminate the chemotherapy.Currently,Western medicine can not confirm the mechanism of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neurotoxicity, its prevention and control measures include general measures and drugs, general measures refers to strengthen the warm and reduce or avoid exposure to cold stimulation, as well as control the cl inical drug and change the therapy. The drug treatment of Western medicine includes the ant iepilept ic, mixture of calcium and magnesium, vitamins, nucleotides and antioxidants, mostly together with the use of chemotherapy. To some extent it can alleviate rates of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neurotoxicity reaction, but the effect is not ideal, therefore to explore its pathogenesis is a major difficulty, and it is also the key of developing new drugs. This article has collected the literature in recent years, and summed up to find the great advantage of Chinese medicine in the treatment of the disease. The records of chemotherapy-induced peripheral nerve toxicity has not been found in ancient Chinese medicine, but the symptoms can be attributed to Bi syndrome. Chinese medicine has done a lot of research inprcvention and treatment of the disease, most scholars be lieve that i ts etiology and pathogenesis is nothing more than "deficiency" or "stasis" or "cold" or "wet" or "poison", single or a number of factors at the same time cause the disease, resulting in nutrition deficiency of meridians, and skin, as well as the block of the Qi and blood circulat ion, which can cause numbness and pain of the limb and skin. As for the treatment, individual physicians have inconsistent views around the etiology and pathogenesis of this disease. They have different ways of treatment, including strengthen Yang to unblock the collateral, reinforce Qi and promote the blood circulation, nourish the spleen and kidney, etc. Treatment is divided into internal treatment and external treatment. The internal treatment includes decoct ion, inject ions and medicines of Chinese medicine. The external treatment includes warm bath, foam wash, acupuncture, Plaster.By these treatments the peripheral neuropathy incidence can be significantly reduced, relieve peripheral nerve toxic reaction, and they can shorten the recovery time to improve the quality of life of patients, improve the tolerability and compliance of the patients on chemotherapy, and make the patients successfully complete the chemotherapy cycle.
