Research objective:based on the epidemiological investigation of cervical spondylosis carried out among IT professionals and sedentary workers of a company in Zhongguancun, the study aims to explore the riskfactors of cervical spondylosis among sedentary workers and long-time computer users and to investigate relevant pathogenesis, disease development, prevention and recovery approaches.Research methods:from September2012to April2013, a total of534patients with cervical spondylosis, who are IT professionals or sedentary workers, are selected as research subjects. Research questionnaires are given out through the Internet to find out the rate of cervical spondylosis among sedentary workers and IT professionals who use computers for a long time. SPSS is applied to analyze the data so as to find out the riskfactors of cervical spondylosis.Research results:534questionnaires are returned. The respondents are IT professionals of a company in Zhongguancun, aging from20to45, with an average age of29years old. Among them,144are male, and390are female;168are occupationally exposed people, and366are non-occupationally exposed people. The statistical data show that the following factors including working years, age, injury experience, regular exercise, time of computer use, habit of cross-legged sitting, habit of leaning forward and staring at the screen for a long time, distance from the computer screen, working pressure, and job satisfaction, have a significant correlation with the development of cervical spondylosis. Logistic regression analysis indicates that working years and the habit of leaning forward and staring at the screen for a long time are risk factors of cervical spondylosis and there are significant differences. Working pressure may lead to cervical spondylosis, but there is no statistical significance. Injury experience, regular exercise, habit of cross-legged sitting and distance from the computer screen are protective factors of cervical spondylosis, and there are significant differences. Age, time of computer use and job satisfaction belong to non-risk factors of cervical spondylosis. Conclusion:the statistical analyses of the influence factors of cervical spondylosis show that working years and the habit of leaning forward and staring at the screen for a long time are risk factors of cervical spondylosis, while injury experience, regular exercise and habit of cross-legged sitting are protective factors of cervical spondylosis, and that there are significant correlations. In view of the working and living conditions of IT professionals, preventive approaches of cervical spondylosis are proposed including arranging work time properly, adjusting work posture, reducing neck flexion, developing good living habits, avoiding emotional stress and dangerous activities, taking regular exercise and improving work environment.
