Objective: We did the study by collecting cases and reviewing the corresponding literature, organized patient information database, for further explore and improve the study of sleep apnea syndrome (snoring) in TCM(Traditional Chinese Medicine) etiology, pathogenesis, syndrome type. We treated the patients that matched phlegm blockage with traditional Chinese medicine decoction and evaluate the curative effect, for the purpose of enlarge the disease sample quantity, further research and Differential Treatment lay the foundation of the system in medicine. Methods: We did the study by collecting and analyzing180patients finished the polysomnography respiratory monitor in the Ministry of Health, Beijing Hospital Room sleep apnea monitoring from December2010to March2013. Then we classified those patients as five types in TCM and chose30adult patients that were diagnosed as sleep apnea syndrome that matched the phlegm blockage type or based phlegm blockage type in TCM as research subjects, including23males and7females.Those subjects are treated with Traditional Chinese Medicine decoction based on Erchen with regular visit and follow-up.After a period of treatment, usually longer than one month, use the polysomnography again and record the data.Evaluate the curative effect by analyzing the corresponding index and the improvement in symptoms.Result: The study database contains180snoring patients, and we classified the TCM syndrome type, which the phlegm block type contains62cases (34.4%). followed the qi stagnation and blood stasis folder sputum in49cases (27.2%). DLS(deficiency of lung and spleen) type in29cases (16.1%), yin deficiency of liver and kidney in27cases (15.1%), yang deficiency of spleen in13cases (7.2%). We chose30adult patients that were diagnosed as sleep apnea syndrome by polysomnography respiratory monitoring that matched the phlegm blockage type or based phlegm blockage type in TCM, statistical study shows symptoms in the top five is snoring (92.4%). mouth dry (76.1%), sleepy lethargy (66.2%), fatigue (62.5%). forgetfulness (47.2%). After one month of treatment via oral Chinese medicine decoction Erchen evaluated by polysomnography the retcst and rcla.cd symptoms table survey found that, compared with before treatment, both alleviate snoring patients with sleep, the main clinicrl symptoms in the majority of patient. improved significantly. The total effective rate:73.4%(significantly effectiy cases, accounting for16.7%; effective in17cases, accounting for56.7%:8ca26.6%). More than guide sleep apnea monitoring review found that after treatment the majority of patients with AHI index decreased, total treatment remarkable efficiency:73.4%(significantly with effective three cases, accounting for10%: effective in19cases, accounting for63.4%;8cases, accounting for26.6%, a total of22cases markedly, accounting for73.4%). Grouped by sleep apnea,8cases of Chinese medicine to treat the symptoms invalid three patients had severe patients,5patients with moderate patients:5patients with disease duration of10years,3patients with disease duration of2-10years.8cases of AHI index ineffective treatment patients in cases of severe patients,4cases of patients with moderate;7patients with disease duration of more than10years, patients with disease duration was2-10vears.Conclusion: Through clinical statistics indicate that the highest prevalence of the snoring is phlegm blockage TCM syndrome type, phlegm is one of the most important risk factors for snoring. Erchen Decoction has the effect of dampness spleen, phlegm Xuanfei, by taking the formula is one of the effective method for the treatment of the phlegm blockage sleep apnea syndrome. Decoction of Chinese medicine treatment for mild to moderate and early sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome patients has better efficacy, so early in medical interventions for SAS patients can alleviate clinical symptoms and control the disease. Due to the patient’s treatment course.the long-term efficacy of Chinese medicine decoction to snoring is not clear whether there are persistent symptoms (such as after discontinuation), need further observation study.
