Achyranthes bidentata Bl. is a traditional herb recorded in the People’s Republic of China Pharmacopoeia (2010EDITION). It belongs to family Amarathaceae and is widely distributed Shan Xi, Shan Dong, Jiang Su, An Hui, Jiang Xi, Hu Nan, Hu Bei, Si Chuan, Yu Nan and Gui Zhou provinces in China. It has the effects of dissipating blood stasis, subducing inflammation nourinshing the ilver and kidney, strengthening the bones and muscles,et.al and is used for the treantment of osteodynia of lumbar and knees, spasm and flaccidity of limbs and so on.EtOH extract of this plant was separated and purified by silica gel column, reversed phase C18silica gel column, and Sephadex LH-20column chromatography and HPLC preparation. On the basis of spectroscopic analysis such as1H-NMR,13C-NMR and MS,15compounds were identified as:polypodine B (1),20-hydroxyecdysone (2), inokosterone (3), shidasterone (4), oleanolic acid (5), oleanolic acid3-O-β-D-glucuronopyranoside-6’-0-methyl ester (6), chikusetsusaponin Ⅳ a methyl ester (7), N-cis-feruloyltyramine (8), N-cis-feruloy-3-methoxytyramine (9),N-trans-feruloytyramine (10) N-trans-feruloyl-3-methoxytyramine (11),(Z)-8,11,12-trihydroxyoctadec-9-enoic acid (12),(Z)-8,11,12-trihydroxyramine-9-enoic methyl ester (13), linoleic acid (14) and palmitic acid (15). Compounds (4),(8),(9),(12),(13) and (14) were isolated from the plant for the first time.
