Nowadays, Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) is a common and frequent diseaseworldwide greatly threatening human health. With the development of agingsociety, economy and science&technology, people’s way of living have undergonetremendous changes and CHD incidence is on the increase. Discussions on thesyndrome and etiology&pathogenesis of CHD are recorded as precordial pain, chest stuffiness, angina pectoris and precordial pain with cold limbs byTraditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Having dedicated to clinical medicaltreatment, teaching and scientific research for nearly30years and summarizingthe previous experiences based on the classical theories of TCM and combiningthe clinical practice, Professor Wang Fengrong with richer learning andexperiences holds the view that “toxicity is produced from phlegm and blood, and toxicity is harmful to the choroid”, which is the major pathogenesis ofCHD; phlegm, blood and toxicity run through the whole process of pathogenesis, pathological changes and complications; the essence of pathology is interpretedas hyperlipidemia, blood hypercoagulable state of platelet aggregation andinflammatory response from the perspective of modern medicine. Adhering to theidea that treatment should aim at the root cause of a disease and starting fromphlegm, blood and toxicity as well as focusing on the method ofphlegm-eliminating, blood-removing and detoxification, Professor Wang Fengrongflexibly applies the famous prescription dachaihu decoction mentioned in theTreatise on Cold Pathogenic Diseases written by Mr. Zhang Zhongjing, aprestigious doctor in Eastern Han Dynasty, to the prevention and treatment ofCHD and angina pectoris according to the syndromes, which has achieved a betterclinical effect. |
