Objective:Study the characteristics of the damaged cognitive function and the distribution of syndrome types fo the patients who had diabetes with mild Cognitive impairment (MCI), which provided certain references for the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM)intervention to MCI, and for the prevention and treatment to early dementia. Methods:The patients with2-DM were divided into two groups:Diabate with abnomal cognative group and Diabate with nomal cognative group, every patient was tested by Mental State scale (Mini-Mental State Examination, MMSE). The patient who got20-27scores was diagnosed MCI and then was classified to abnomal cognative group, he patient who got27-30scores was classified to nomal cognative group. With TCM syndrome type diagnosis criteria refers to the mild cognitive impairment clinical research guiding principle (draft) proposed by JinZhou Tian etc, the common syndromes were kidney essence deficiency, Yin deficiency and Yang excess, phlegm stasis in brain, blood stasis in brain meridian hot evil excess in body, deficiency blood and Qi, turbid Qi stagnation in belly, which were used to diagnose the syndrome of the patients. Using the SAS8.2software to analyze the clinical data.Results:1. Compared with the patients of diabetes cognitive normal group, diabetes MCI group showed kidney essence deficiency syndrome (P<0.01), which had significant difference in statistics; phlegm stasis in brain syndrome (P<0.05)and blood stasis in brain meridian (P<0.05) had a statistically significant difference.Compared with the diabetes with normal cognition, diabetes patients with MCI group had a single syndrome which had a decline rate (P<0.05); Compared with normal cognitive diabetes group, the ratio of the diabetes patients with MCI group wich mixed2or3syndromes rosed substantially (P<0.01), which showed the remarkable statistical differences.2. Total score of MMSE between diabetes MCI group and diabetes with normal cognitive function group provided a significant difference (p<0.01).Conclusion:This study suggests:diabetes patients with MCI showed a decline of global cognitive function and memory. The most common type of TCM syndrome of diabetes patients with MCI is kidney essence deficiency syndrome, the second is phlegm stasis in brain syndrome and blood stasis in brain meridian syndrome, and2or3syndromes complxed with each other were common. Kidney essence deficiency syndrome closely related to diabetes patients with MCI, which showed a important reference meanings for further research in controlling diabetes patients brain dama with Chinese medicine.
