Objective:The purpose of this study is to research the effect and feasibility on the zirconia ceramic restorations supported by experimental zirconia abutments.Methods:(1)manufacture and test in vitro of zirconia abutments:①ccording to the measurement made by the laser gauge, liner shrinkage of zirconia materials and the abutment draft was made, zirconia abutments were fabricated with injection molding technique.(2)detected the fracture resistance and fitness of zirconia abutments connecting with osstem GS II implants.(2) Clinical application of zirconia abutments:30 volunteers,who had missed anterior teeth and implanted osstem GSⅡimplants,were Selected and divided into two groups (A and B),15 cases in each group. Took the impressions for everyone and made plaster models. For group A, zirconia ceramic restorations supported by experimental zirconia abutments, adopting CAD/CAM. For group B, Cobalt-chromium alloy porcelain restorations supported by titanium abutments were manufactured. Above abutments and restorations were transfered into 30 volunteers’implants in oral respectively. X-ray images of two groups of volunteers’implant dentures and the alveolar bone around them were taken according to X-ray positioning system and MINRAY digital X-ray systems, alveolar bone height of each group were respectively measured in digora for windowsV2.0 digital X-ray image processing software.12 months later,①compared the use and aesthetic effect of implant denture of the volunteers in two groups,②took the X-ray images of the volunteers in two groups and measured the alveolar bone height surrounding implant denture of two groups in such methods again,③the periodontal index(gingival index, plaque index and probing depth) of volunteers’implant dentures in each group were detected.Results:(1)the experimental zirconia abutments met the requiremenis and could been fixed with osstem GS II implants assembly, in vitro fracture resistance and fitness of them were suitable to clinical application. (2)①all the implant dentures of volunteers were favorable. None of the zirconia abutments in group A was loosening, fracture and damage, compared with group B,implant dentures in group A had a better aesthetic effect,②for the volunteers in group A or B,there was no statistically significant on the alveolar bone height surrounding implant denture applied before and after 12 months (P> 0.05), but it increased for some volunteers in group A,③about the periodontal index(gingival index, plaque index and probing depth) of implant denture between the two groups of volunteers, the difference is also no statistically significant (P> 0.05).Conclusions:(1)zirconia ceramic restoration supported by experimental zirconia abutment is better aesthetic effect than Cobalt-chromium alloy porcelain restorations supported by titanium abutments and no adversely affecting the surrounding tissue in 12 months. (2)it is feasible for zirconia ceramic restorations supported by experimental zirconia abutments and worthy of clinical application.
