Clinical Research Progress Of Chinese And Western Medicine In The Treatment Of Urinary Incontinence After Stroke

Objective:To discuss the present situation of research on the cause of disease, the mechanism of disease and the treatment of UI after stroke. And at the same time, research the clinical development on the pathogen, mechanism diagnosis and treatment of the disease based on western medicine.Method:Based on CNKI, we retrieved "incontinence" with "stroke" and collected literatures related to the disease of urinary incontinence after stroke from1980to2011. The author summarized the TCM treatments in terms of the studies of using acupuncture, Moxibustion and herbs to treat this disease and the clinical results summaries. According to the different therapies of acupuncture, Moxibustion, herbs, and combined with other treatments, we make the summary in classification. In the acupuncture therapies, we also make the summary on the evaluation of curative effect based on the treatments of scalp acupuncture, body acupuncture, combined scalp and body acupuncture and electrical acupuncture. Beside, we have done an extensive but in-depth analysis on the treatment of urinary incontinence after stroke in the way of pathogen, mechanism diagnosis and treatment of the disease based on western medicine.Conclusion:Urinary incontinence is a complication with high incidence after stroke. At present, there is a wide variety of research on the diagnosis, treatment and nursing to this disease, and made considerable achievements. But, there are still a lot of shortcomings. On the base of a great deal of material, traditional Chinese medicine has great Clinical significances and advantages on treating Urinary incontinence after stroke. However, because of the criterion evaluation of therapeutically effect of this disease has not unified, there are big differences among the evaluation results on the curative effect of the treatment to Urinary incontinence after stroke. Clinically, the traditional Chinese medicine therapies to treat Urinary incontinence after stroke include Acupuncture, Moxibustion and herb. And they are all effective. The western medicine therapies include conservative treatment, surgical treatment and electrical stimulation treatment. However, there is lack of credible related data to show its treatment effect.Urinary incontinence after stroke with acupuncture, acupoint, main and collateral channels for much more, in future studies may be inclined to single point single main and collateral channels research.
