Beckground:Adhesive capsulitis of the shoulder, also known as frozen shoulder,is a common and frequently-occurring disease. The incidence rate is about8.79%in which the proportion of patients over50years old is from60%to88%Adhesive capsulitis of the shoulder is a disorder in which the shoulder capsule, the connective tissue surrounding the glenohumeral joint of the shoulder, becomes inflamed and stiff, and grows together with abnormal bands of tissue, called adhesions, greatly restricting motion and causing chronic pain. The condition commonly appears in people about50years old. so it’s also called "the fifty shoulder" Frozen shoulder can seriously affect people’s learning and working, reduce the quality of living and sleeping, and also have a great impoction on the physical and mental health. Frozen shoulder is a self-healing disease, but the course can be as long as six months or even three years, and often left lots of sequela in the self-healing course. It brings great pain and inconvenience to the patient’s life. Therefore, early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment are the key to controling the development of frozen shoulder condition. The development of frozen shoulder can be divided into acute phase, chronic phase and recovery phase. The acute phase takes the persistent and extensive pain around shoulder as the main symptoms. The chronic phase may be associated with functional movement disorder, severe cases can affect the self-careing. In the recovery phase, these symptoms will gradually return to the normal condition, but some patients still catch the sequelae with the exhibition of shoulder mobility or local pain. Frozen shoulder could seriously affect the patients’learning, working, living and sleeping by bringing them severe pain and function mobility. Therefore, to explore how to improve the treatment of frozen shoulder, reduce patients’ pain, and accelerate the activities of the shoulder joint functional recovery is the direction of this experiment. Shallow needling is easy to accept because of the rapid onset, obvious effection and long duration. Selecting the Yang Meridians and moxibustion can declare blood and Qi and warm the meridians which could not only relief the pain quickly and stably, and also separate the adhesions in the muscles, tendon and the soft tissue around the shoulder joint.Objects:The purpose of the research is observe the treatment which uses acupuncture and moxibustion to treat the Frozen shoulder, and provide us some reference in clinical. Methods:We chose30patients suffering from Frozen shoulder from the outpatient clinic of acupuncture and moxibustion in Guang anmen hospital of Chinese Academy of traditional Chinese Medical Sciences from May.2011to Jan.2012. Then we recorded in patients with functional activities score and visual analogue scale (VAS) to evaluate the patient’s status. And we got the result through the method of paired-t test, radit analysis and other methods. Results:In these30cases of this research, we got eight curative(27%),17excellent(57%).4effective (13%), and1ineffective(3%). And the total effective rate was97%.Conclusion:With syndrome differentiation and treatment for the principle, we got a very satisfactory treatment in two treating courses by acupuncture and moxibustion. This method is easy to accept because of its easy-operating, security, no AD and stable efficacy. It’s worth further clinical discussion and promotion.
