In today’s era of network multimedia, digital information is changing people’s cognitive style and way of life, access to channels of knowledge is no longer confined to paper books, and buying book is no longer confined to only from a physical bookstore. Emerging channels and media network, such as e-books, online bookstores have a great impact on the survival of entity bookstore. Xinhua bookstore is the largest bookstore in China, it is not only a book distribution company, but had additional social functions and national political and culture significance. The author believes that it is a cultural totem, though Xinhua bookstore faces many challenges in technology times, it should have a more open stance, and actively take the functions of bridge knowledge and spiritual to people. This thesis discusses how Xinhua bookstore can explore the context of the time, and how to re-shape the architectural space of Xinhua BookstoreThis paper analyzes the impacts of different industrial structures on social ideology and architecture design, from agricultural civilization, the mechanical industrial civilization, power industrial civilization, to computer information. We discusses the development of bookstore abroad and in China, to tease out the building space since the20th century, with the turnover of different times and the basic law of change:rational linear thinking straight construct, emphasizing the logic of modernism to non-linear, profiled surfaces, chaotic disordered network and multi-dimensional. This paper argues that the cultural functions of the bookstore building should adapt to meet the new demands of the people, at the same time to lead an orderly way of life and full of humane care, to attract and appeal to those people wandering in the virtual world back warmth, a love of books and tea and the cultural mood of the physical book hall; bookstores playing a new culture Heights. Thus, it is proposed to create new culture landmarks in digital new culture.In the fourth chapter, we show the design case of BaoJi XinHua book store, using the concept of digital new culture. The actual effect has to wait until after the implementation of the project of social feedback, reflect the aspirations of the argument in this article on the current design achievements in a certain sense. Design in the building bears a geographical humanities and the style of the times; breath of new digital media publicity rational logic.
