The research on vehicle’s protection level against landmine carried out inboard is fairly little:so far there has been no any systematic research on military vehicles in theory, experiment or design. Therefore, the technology in vehicle’s protection against landmine inboard still falls behind America, UK and French, ect. Most of recent work done is only qualitative, being not applied in practice. To satisfy this requirement. this paper presents the research on the whole body of a High Mobility General Purpose Military Vehicle based on practical engineering background, and focuses on the dynamic response of some key parts such as fuel tank, storage battery under blast effect of landmine explosion in the view of chassis’s protection technology, which aims at finding measures to improve the vehicle’s protection level, thereby, providing support and reference for the future design of MRAP or improvement measures for existed vehicles. To ensure the objectives mentioned above can be realized and subsequent work can be done smoothly, the research was discussed as follows:1) An airblast experiment on the land was carried out and its Finite Element Model (FEM) was built firstly, indicating that all the equipment and research method used is appropriate; besides, some data about overpressure of various quality of TNT at different distances were obtained.2) Based on the result of item above, a vehicle test was made according to some relative standards, obtaining the response of some key parts (such as fuel tank, battery box, frame and bottom plate of cab) and corresponding overpressure data, presenting the vehicle’s protection level at last.3) Effects of four classic structures against shockwave were analyzed, providing the best one and telling how this structure can be used in engineering.4) The reasons for causing structure failure were discussed and some improvement measures were came up. Then the paper validates the feasibility of proposed measures through the simulation instead of test, saving the cost.
