It is widely used in various types of automatic control systems in military,aerospace, radar, computers, precision machinery and otherindustries because of itsstability, excellent independent linear precision, lownoise and high rotating life.This paper studied the selection of materials, the reliability of structure,manufacturing process and the test system according to the principle of wire-woundpotentiometers. The main contens are as follows:1. Introduced the principle of the function, main characteristics, material selectionand the winding parameter calculation of the wire-wound potentiometer.2. For the needs of production, designed a highly precise wire-wound potentiometerwith double contactor and discussed the whole process of the potentiometer from thedesigning to the application of the products. Considered of a winding design to producethe cycle winding using the parallel winding method according to the situation of ourfactory. And established a reasonable winding manufacturing process.3. Built the designing and manufacturing platform of single cycle precisewire-wound potentiometer through the creation of the double-contactor and highlyprecise wire-wound potentiometer. And the developed data of this product wasextended to other productions to reduce the research period.According to the test results, the device met the demands and the military standards.It reached the domestic top level.
