The bursting disc device is a secure attachment commonly used in pressure vessels, pipes and all kinds of pressure devices. It will rupture and release the pressure to protect the system equipment and operating personnel when the system is overpressure. The bursting disc is an important component of the pressure devices. Whether it can blast accurately or not in the set pressure and temperature is essential to the protection of the devices and it is also the major concern of researchers and engineers.The full paper focused on the bursting pressure and properties of the disc by using the analytical method、finite element simulation method and experiment method. The finite element calculations were carried on ANSYS Workbench and Dynaform software.In this paper, the basic types and structural characteristics of bursting discs are introduced as well as the new structural discs in the market. A new sort of formula used to calculate the bursting pressure is deduced by adopting the previous research results and the calculation formula of the bursting pressure which is widely used in the bursting discs with arch shape. Then the existing error is analyzed. Next, various factors such as materials, geometrical size, processing technology and installation, which have effects on the bursting pressure of bursting discs, are deeply studied and the finite element software Dynaform is used to simulate and predict the influence which the speed of shaping has on the bursting pressure. This process has provided a reliable foundation to the practical production. In addition, aiming at the strain aging problem of bursting discs, the artificial aging is adopted to accelerate the process of the aging effect and to stabilize the bursting pressure of discs. The appropriate temperature and the time of this process are given at the same time. Finally, the performance of the arch shaped bursting discs with ring-slot type is analyzed by using the finite element analysis software ANSYS Workbench and the key factors which have an influence on their performance are pointed out.
