Therefore, in order to solve the modern requirements and electrical safety of the substation, the substation automation technology is widely used in high or low voltage substation place.This paper briefly describes the development status of the domestic and international level of substation automation technology, also providing an easy substation integrated automation system design applied in the engineering development. The application example of a substation automation system in the low-voltage substations is discussed in detail. This substation integrated automation system uses a hierarchical distributed architecture. Process layer devices use the primary equipment of the existing substation, such as circuit breakers, isolating switch and current transformers TA, voltage transformers, TV Interface, etc. Bay level equipments are provided by other companies, and uniform application of the485bus to communicate. All of the different communication protocols are based on COM technology. Station control layer devices consist of monitor computers, printers, GPS clock, communication management machine, etc. The system use the implementation of the front and back office communication.The whole system frame is designed. A brief introduction to the features and functions of each module of the system, and a detailed analysis of the ideas and processes of software design are given. Implementation process and the description also are given according to the specific communication protocol. At the same time, a brief description of configuration software applied in the development of the substation automation system is provided, and the process of developing configuration screen is introduced in detail, including the substation overall system monitoring screen, real-time data display screen, the historical data View the screen, fault recorder screen, four remote data acquisition screen, report, etc.In practice, the entire system runs stably and reliably in on-line debugging.
