The food culture of Tangut is one of the important object of Xixiaology. This article study the background formed, the diet of raw materials in Tangut, the dietary customs of Tangut and characteristics and impact of the Tangut food Culture.This article first analysis the natural environment, ethnic compostion and foreign relations. The geographical environment of Tangut provided the materal basis for dietary, ethnic compostion of Tangut was the human factor, and foreign relations further enriched and improved the diet of the people of the Tangut.On the basis of discussing the natural geographical environment, a more comprehensive and systematic exposition of animal resources and plant resources of Tangut. A large number of animal and plant resources of the Tangut provided a wealth of food resources for people, so the Binary diet was formed.In summary, the Tangut eating customs had formed for a long time. The Tangut had formed a set of grain processing, food cooking, food variety and utensils used, there were many eating activities in tangut,and they had multiple functions.The food Culture of Tangut both had contemporary diet culture features of northern ethnic, also had its own characteristics. Look from the Staple food in Tangut was cake, they also liked eating the raw meat, they eated a few aquatic. After the founding of the Country, food grain raw material playd an increasingly important role in people’s diet. Final, the Binary diet was formed. The diet of Tangut had a profound influence on later.
