Putin Diplomatic Strategy Research

At the beginning of 2000, Putin was elected as the Russian President. Russia entered a new development era. During his presidential tenure, Putin formulated and implemented a series of productive diplomatic strategies which was consistent with Russian national conditions, established its international status, and realized the national rejuvenation. Formed during the period of a sharp reform, Putin’s diplomatic strategies not only made the significance to Russian development, but also had profound influence on international relations. Even after Putin’s leaving office, his diplomatic strategies still guide Russian diplomatic development direction. Therefore, Putin’s diplomatic strategies become an important subject researched by Chinese and foreign scholars.Based on a considerable amount of reference data and guided by Marxist historical materialism, this paper expounds the contents which include Putin’s diplomatic strategies and strategic causes, and the influence on Russian diplomaticdecision-making in the post-Putin era, using the relative theory of history and international relations. Through Putin diplomatic strategy research, the author tries to reveal the real intention of Russian foreign policy and future development direction.This paper is divided into three parts:In the first part, this paper expounds the contents of Putin diplomatic strategies and the overall development vein, discusses Putin’s diplomatic strategies and national specific practice in detail, and summarizes the characteristics of Putin’s diplomatic strategies.In the second part, the paper discusses the causes of Putin’s diplomatic strategies, respectively from the situation at home and abroad confronted with by Russia and the Russian geopolitical tradition and Putin personal perspective. This paper gives a comprehensive analysis to the influence of Putin’s diplomatic strategies.In the third part, this paper analysizes the influence of Putin’s diplomatic strategies, separately, from the influence of Putin’s diplomatic strategies on modern international relations of Russian foreign policy and the evaluation to the influence on their two aspects, and through the summary of Russian diplomatic strategies in the post-Putin era, points out that the Putin’s diplomatic strategies are inherited and innovated by Medvedev.
