The Love Story of a Young Monk, as a masterpiece of Wang Zengqi, the famous novelist in China modern literature, presents us the beauty of human nature. It is regarded as the representative of poetic novels and it is worth our appreciation. The paper, with reception aesthetics as the guiding theory, first analyses the text of the Love Story of a Young Monk, discusses the difficult points in the translation process—the translation of Chinese culture elements, and then provides the translation strategies with the help of the guiding theory.The translation project report is mainly divided into five parts:Part One focuses on the background and significance of the project and the structure of the report. Part Two focuses on the background, author, main contents and text features of the source text. Part Three introduces the guiding theory—reception aesthetics and the relations between reception aesthetics and literary translation. Part Four discusses the difficult points in the translation process, and then provides the translation strategies with the help of the guiding theory, including the translation of titles, simple words, loose sentences, folk culture, Buddhist culture and figures of speech. Part Five concludes with the gains and shortcomings in the translation project. Among all these five parts, the key part gees to Part Four.
