Sui ended the secession that lasted about three hundred years and united China when it conquered Chen in589A. D., meanwhile, the survival officers of the Chen regime were taken in to the new state. However, the South and the North had formed a vast chasm because of the long-lasting secession. How to assign late Chen officers was the critic issue to solidify the uniform and to alleviate the hatred between the two parts. Therefore, this paper aims at studying these officers in Sui regime. The paper consists of two chapters. The first chapter focuses on how these officers lived in Sui regime, beginning with studying on Emperor Wen’s policies to the South Yangtze River, and then analyzed several Chen officers’life from the regime of Emperor Wen to that of Emperor Yang, lastly, explored the Chen royal family’s life in the new regime. The second one surveys the Chen officers’s activities and their influence in the new regime, which was based on their deeds and some important political events and thus we can understand their actual effects and limitations in Sui regime.
