The great value of literature of tablet inscriptions in language research has been given an initial attention by more and more scholars recently. Substantial research on tablet inscriptions has been carried out and yielded significant results. However, the previous studies usually focused on the literature of tablet inscriptions from Han, Wei, Jin, Northern and Southern Dynasties as well as Tang Dynasty, and the study concerning the tablet inscriptions of Song Dynasty was scarce. Despite some scholars have realized the value of tablet inscriptions of Song Dynasty, they just did from the perspective of historical science, culturology, geography and so on. Centering on the study of language ontology, the study which can provide a comprehensive profile of the lexicon in the tablet inscriptions of Song Dynasty was almost in blank.All of the education vocabulary in the tablet inscriptions of Song Dynasty had a distinguishing feature. Provided with large quantity, clear era, powerful authenticity, high academic value, the literature was therefore a vital data in the monographic study of language dislocation. The study on the categorization of education vocabulary in Song Dynasty will not only promote the carding and comprehension of tablet inscriptions, but also provide valuable materials for the construction of lexical item in large-scaled dictionaries, the explanation of word meaning as well as the choice and application of documentary evidence to help the public read and utilize. It was of great significance to provide a synthetic analysis to the various aspects of the lexicon, which paved the way for better understanding of the effects of social politics, national and public conditions, educational culture, ideological communication, as well as custom on the lexicon at this period.The thesis paper can be divided into six chapters. The first chapter mainly provides a brief introduction of the materials, the notion as well as the contents of tablet inscriptions in the field of education, and a review of the present situation, the value, the train of thought and the methodology of the present paper. The next four chapters select four typical special issues respectively, that is, local official vocabulary, facility organization vocabulary, vocabulary of holy ceremony of Confucius and vocabulary of imperial examinations. Centering on the study of language ontology, these four chapters put these vocabulary into the corresponding semantic filed to analyze, apply the theory of semantic, especially the semantic field and combine the research results of relevant disciplines, such as, pedagogy, culturology to outline the complete profile of education vocabulary of tablet inscriptions of Song Dynasty through the comprehensive descriptions and analyses to language phenomena. Meanwhile, the four chapters also concern the some relevant studies of history and culture in the field of education. Based on the depiction and analyses of the former chapters, the final chapter mainly reveals the characteristics of education vocabulary about tablet inscriptions of Song Dynasty and thus explores the regularity of vocabulary development. Moreover, the cultural phenomena and mentality refracted by the vocabulary are also investigated in this chapter. Great efforts are made to restore the authentic face of language in Song Dynasty and project the distinct era feature by employing the method of dual evidence and combining the unearthed documents with hand-down-literature.
