The Chinese nation has a long history and education has always been of the utmost importance in the cultural heritage. Since entering modern times, the traditional pattern of education and the content delivered by traditional education had been called into question and challenge. Then the modern education began to bud. Its development from the beginning to the progressive development has experienced a long and difficult process. In Huizhou region (which is located in Anhui), which was known as "southeast turmoil","cheng zhu que" reputation, traditional education was highly developed and has extremely obvious regional features. So the examination of the region’s modern education in the modern development course has very important research significance.Huizhou modern education started from the establishment of ChongYi School in1900, to the start of the Anti-Japanese War. It roughly experienced three stages of development: from1900to1911as the starting stage, with the build of the new school around Huizhou; from1912to1919as the progressive development stage, with the new school establishment and the massive growth of the amount of schools; from1920to1937as the further development stage, with the significant development of the secondary education in this time period and the accomplishment of completed education structure. Each stage of the development of modern education is clearly introduced in this paper the Huizhou around, in order to provide you a full view of the modern education system of Huizhou.Huizhou modern education started from the scratch, and then went to the stages of steady development, with the accomplishment of completed education structure. During this period, the development of Huizhou modern education shows some specific characteristics, such as:the elementary education was the most developed; the secondary education went slower than the elementary education; clan and private teacher donated education affected a lot; teaching methods and treatment needed to be improved; the tough environment made up a batch of famous schools and teachers. The progress and outstanding achievements of Huizhou modern education can not be ignored as well, because it changed people’s traditional concepts of people in Huizhou region, improved the local education level, enhanced the professional quality of the local Chinese people and promoted women’s social and family status. The modern education also promoted the industrial and commercial economic development of Huizhou region and founded the education development in the following years during the Anti-Japanese War. However, the modern education development during this time period, also had many limitations, such as the out of dated teaching methods, poor education facilities and etc. Tracing back the source and taking history as a mirror, the development of modern education in Huizhou during this period still provides great lot of experiences of revelation for the education of Anhui and Huizhou region nowadays.
